Israeli Spotted Fever in Sicily. Description of two cases and minireview

Mediterranean spotted fever (MSF) is endemic in Italy, where Rickettsia conorii subsp. conorii was thought to be the only pathogenic rickettsia and Rhipicephalus sanguineus the vector and main reservoir. R. conorii subsp. israelensis, which belongs to the R. conorii complex, is the agent of Israeli spotted fever (ISF); apart from Israel, it has also been found in Italy (Sicily and Sardinia) and in different regions of Portugal. We describe here two severe cases of ISF which occurred in otherwise healthy Italian adults. Their characteristics are analyzed and discussed in the light of other 91 cases found through a systematic review of international literature.
Actinomyces in infected osteoradionecrosis--underestimated?

Infected osteoradionecrosis (IORN) is a severe complication of radiation therapy for head and neck cancer. Infected osteoradionecrosis can lead to fracture and often requires subsequent jaw resection. It is known that irradiated bone is highly susceptible to infections, mainly with Candida species and cariogenic bacteria. Only very few data exist on Actinomyces in IORN. The study population consisted of 31 patients (7 female, 24 male; median age, 58.3 years). All patients exhibited clinical and radiological signs of IORN (infection, mucosa or skin fistula, and sequestrated bone). Hebrew Bible offers alternative Economic utopia for building Theocratic society. In this paper, various economic concepts and themes are presented, as found in the Hebrew Bible. These economic concepts include taxation, property rights, labor market, social policy, banking, years of Sabbath and Jubilee, and business cycles. Most economic issues of the Bible are found in the texts of Torah, also known as five Books of Moses. These texts are analyzed by using classical Rabbinical commentaries for better insight. In questa nota si prendono in esame quattro libri pubblicati tra il 2018 e il 2020 che affrontano il tema da prospettive differenti come il ruolo politico degli ebrei nell'Italia liberale e negli anni della grande guerra, la storia delle persecuzioni in età fascista, il problematico avvento della Repubblica, la raffigurazione degli ebrei e di Israele nelle sinistre italiane e la più generale percezione di Israele nel mondo politico e culturale italiano.
